Villa Hikaru, Jamaica

Villa Hikaru Villa Hikaru, our private beachfront home in Treasure Beach, Jamaica, is in a peaceful, un-touristy fishing village. We invite you to come share it. From our shaded patio, you'll enjoy a wide panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea. Plantings of tropical fruits and beautiful flowers on our secluded, acre-plus grounds assure your privacy. But you can also visit with fishermen-neighbors we've known for 35 years; they can take you on a fishing or sight-seeing trip, or you can just sit and "reason" (talk) with them. You'll be looked after by Miss Vanessa, our housekeeper and (superb!) cook, as if you were family. Enjoy our private 50-foot lap pool, tennis court and horseshoes court (lit after dinner). Or walk out the sea-gate to a sandy swimming beach. Children can paddle in the reef-protected shallows. Off the reef, an undersea world of coral invites snorkeling when the sea is calm. As the on-shore breeze rises, it's a short walk up the beach to where a break in the reef and a permanent sandbar make for good body-surfing. There are several nearby attractions. A boat trip up the Black River takes you into one of the world's premier marine morasses. Farther inland are a series of cataracts, Y.S. Falls, where you can climb and swim. The Bamboo Avenue is one of the best-known tourist destinations. Lover's Leap has a spectacular view and a classic story of star-crossed lovers (and an excellent restaurant; we like to watch the sun set and then go in to dinner on our "cook's night out."

" We ask a 50 percent deposit, with the balance due six weeks before you fly, which is when you'll also send us your grocery money (with $120/person/week she'll provide you three wonderful meals a day, except for that one night out)and instructions for Miss Vanessa so she can meet your tastes. She is also your ""factotum"" -- she'll help you arrange a boat trip in a fishing canoe or a car for inland touring. And do your personal laundry when she changes bedlinens and towels in midweek. And whatever else you need."
