St. Croix Weather

St. Croix’s average year round temperature is approximately 80 degrees. The average water temperature is 79 degrees. The combination of the two makes for a great vacation any time of year. Summer humidity means that you should have bedrooms with air-conditioning. Atlantic hurricane season is from June to November, with the highest probability for a storm in September and October.

We recommend that villa clients for St Croix do NOT choose to fly to St Thomas and use the St Thomas – St Croix ferry. Unlike the ferry crossing to St. John, this is a long ride.

St. Croix Time Zone

St. Croix is on Atlantic Standard Time, which in the summer is the same as US Eastern Standard Time. Unlike the States, St. Croix, does not change her clocks for daylight savings time in the winter months. This means they are one hour ahead of US Eastern time from November to February.

St. Croix Entry Requirements

St. Croix is an unincorporated United States territory and one of the United States Virgin Islands. If you are US Citizen a passport is not required to visit St. Croix.
You will however need a birth certificate and a driver’s license, or government issued photo id to verify your US citizenship. Non US residents will need a passport and must follow all the same rules for foreigners visiting mainland USA.

St. Croix Ferries

Ferries between St. Croix and St. Thomas are available several times throughout the day.
It is quite a long trip. We suggest that our St Croix villa clients fly into St Croix rather than flying to St Thomas and taking the ferry.

St. Croix Car Rental

The best villa vacations include a rental car. If you wish, we will help you make your car reservations with the car rental company that works with us on St. Croix. This will help with the coordination of your arrival and villa meet and greet.

St. Croix Arrival Meet and Greet

During the travel information process, which will happen about eight weeks before your trip, you will be given the name and phone number of the St Croix staff member who will meet you on arrival. . This person will meet you at the airport and assist you in picking up your luggage and rental car. You will then follow the greeter’s car to your villa.

St. Croix Beaches

St. Croix is blessed with more than thirty beaches. One of our favorites is Jack’s Bay. Isaac’s Bay is great for snorkeling. Shoy’s Beach, which sits on the East End, is a perfect beach for sea swimming. Cramer’s Beach has barbecues and tables and with plenty of shade it is a great choice for the whole family to have relaxed beach time.

Great vacation shopping is here. You can choose from hand made jewelry crafted at Sun Lyon Studio, unique clothing at From the Gecko and duty free cosmetics and perfumes at Violette Boutique. St. Croix has some of the best shopping in the USVI.

Apart from eating, drinking, sunning, swimming and sleeping, there are other things that you can do while you are on St Croix. You can go hiking in the Rainforest to explore nature and wonder at the local flora and fauna. St. Croix Airport Departure Tax

Many airlines include departure tax in the ticket cost. Please check to see that your ticket includes this tax. If not, the departure tax due at the airport is $10.00. This must be paid in cash.

St. Croix is island casual. Bathing suits are to be covered when not on the beach.

Tap water on St. Croix is safe to drink. Desalinated ocean water and rain water collected in cisterns are used. Water is expensive and precious, so please use it with care..

St. Croix uses 110 volts, 60 cycles a.c., as in the United States.

English is the official language of St. Croix. Spanish is also commonly spoken.

St. Croix Religion

St. Croix has no official religion. You will find many different houses of worship around the island. The island residents practice mainly Christianity with more Protestants than Catholics. There are other religions also represented here. You will be made welcome at a house of worship.
